NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.-- U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. James Hyatt presents the Distinguished Flying Cross with valor to Master Sgt. Joshua D. Fetters, 34th Weapons Squadron flight engineer June 15, 2011, at the 763rd Maintenance hangar. NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.-- Lt. Col. Mark McCloud, 99th Civil Engineer Squadron commander, congratulates Tech. Sergeants Cory Kemp and Jermaine Kindred, 99th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technicians during a decoration ceremony Jan. 26. Both sergeants received Purple Hearts after sustaining injuries from an improvised explosive device detonation in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in September. Sergeant Kemp also received an Air Force Combat Action Medal for his service during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the U.S. military who are wounded by an enemy during combat operations. Range wing civilian named 'best in the Air Force'
Mr. Joe Joseph, the 98th Range Wing ground safety manager received the 2009 Air Force Safety Civilian of the Year award. Col. John Montgomery presented Mr. Joseph with the award at a recent commander's call. Previously, an Air Combat Command program Management Evaluation Team rated his ground safety program "Outstanding," which was a first for any Nellis wing in more than 12 years.
