Run honors fallen EOD Airman
Runners from the Nellis Air Force Base community, including several members of 99th Civil Engineer Squadron Emergency Ordinance Disposal Flight, participate in a 5K run March 3, 2012, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The event "shadowed" a 5K run held the same day in Fitzgerald, Ga. The runs honored the memory of Senior Airman Michael Buras, a Nellis EOD member who was killed by an improvised explosive device blast Sep. 21, 2010, while serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Nellis/Creech/NTTR National Prayer Luncheon
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Grossman, an internationally recognized author, speaks to Nellis, Creech, and Nevada Test and Training Range Airmen and civilians during the National Prayer Luncheon, March 1, 2012 at the Nellis Air Force Base Club. Grossman, a former Army Ranger and West Point psychology professor, is currently the director of the Killology Research Group. In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he has written numerous books on understanding of killing in war, and the process of healing the victims of violence in war and peace. Pilot receives second Distinguished Flying Cross
U.S. Air Force Col. Tod Fingal, 414th Combat Training Squadron commander, presents the Distinguished Flying Cross decoration to Lt. Col. Daren Sorenson, 414 CTS director of staff, during a presentation ceremony, March 2, 2012 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Sorenson received the decoration for his actions while flying an F-15E Strike Eagle in eastern Afghanistan. He led a formation of aircraft, providing close air support to coalition forces ambushed in a remote mountain district. At great personal risk, Sorenson and his wingmen destroyed an enemy force and a cave complex used as their regional base of operations, saving the lives of about 50 soldiers. Congressional delegates visit 99 GCTS
Ms. Jesse Hotchkiss fires an M2-50 caliber machine gun with the help of TSgt. Hameed Ashanti and SSgt. Alvernita Payne of the 99th Ground Combat Training Squadron Combat Arms. Seven area congressional staff delegates had the opportunity to tour the Nevada Test and Training Range’s ground combat training facility. They also received weapons familiarization training firing M2, Mk-19, M107, M2-40 rifles and grenades.
