The Nellis Company Grade Officers Council volunteered March 12 to help St. Jude's Ranch for Children run their annual spring yard sale. St. Jude's Ranch is a local organization devoted to caring for local abused, abandoned and neglected children.

Several officers from the CGOC drove to Boulder City to help sort and display articles of clothing, household goods, books, appliances and assorted merchandise for the sale. Throughout the day, the officers helped hundreds of local shoppers find items, and also restocked tables and ensured sales went smoothly.

At the end of the day, the officers joined forces with some of the older St. Jude's Ranch residents to organize and store all remaining merchandise. The sale raised approximately $5,000 and all proceeds will be used to support the needs of the children living at the ranch.

In addition, the CGOC presented Veronica Huening, a St. Jude's Ranch donor services specialist, a check for $230, which was raised at a CGOC grocery bagging fundraiser at the commissary last fall.

"Through these efforts, the CGOC has helped perpetuate the Air Force's positive influence on the community while supporting a great cause and fostering a relationship for future service and interaction with the kids at St. Jude's Ranch," said Capt. Raymond Rylander, the CGOC treasurer.
