Volunteers from the Nellis military working dog section, fire department and surgical unit participated in the third annual Career Event for kindergarten through fifth grade students at Lomie Heard Elementary School recently.

There were 14 base personnel who participated in the Career Event and shared their story with the students.

The career event was kicked off with an assembly intended to educate, enlighten and entertain the children of the Clark County School District and featured featuring guitar virtuoso Mike Rayburn.

"Mike inspired our students to find something they enjoy and that they are good at when selecting a career," Said Traci Dyer, school principal. "He motivated our students to pursue their dreams."

"Due to overwhelming support from Nellis, CCSD, state and local agencies and local celebrities, our Career Day has evolved into a multi-day event," said Terry Ann Coletto, school counselor and event planner.
