Nellis Offers Youths Club Beyond Published Aug. 14, 2012 By Master Sgt. David Miller 99th Air Base Wing Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- On Thursday evenings the Nellis Air Force Base chapel comes alive with the voices of middle and high school youth who come together for games, snacks and a place to hang out with friends while learning about teamwork and what Club Beyond is all about. Club Beyond is a community-based, teen-oriented, non-denominational chapel program for middle school and high school kids. The program is sponsored by military chaplains as part of the Nellis AFB Protestant Chapel community. More than 600,000 military children are middle and high-school-age kids according to the National Military Family Association. Military Community Youth Ministries is known as Club Beyond in military communities. MCYM has 90 full-time staff and volunteers serving at more than 45 locations around the world. Club Beyond started at Nellis AFB Feb. 2012. The program is run by Scott Luebke, Club Beyond Community Director, with the help of volunteers, parents, families and chaplains. We started the program from the ground up at Nellis AFB, Luebke said. Our volunteers are the key to running the program. "With Nellis having more than 1,100 youth associated with the base, this program provides a place for kids to get together once a week for fun mixers, crazy games, energetic music and a short message," Luebke said. "Club Beyond exclusively serves military teens but anyone that can get to the weekly meetings is more than welcome."
