The 328th Weapons Squadron welcomed their new commander during a change of command ceremony at the United States Air Force Weapons School here June 14.

Col. Robert Garland, Jr., USAFWS commandant, presided over the 328th Weapons Squadron change of command where Lt. Col. Richard Bourquin assumed command from Lt. Col. Bob Reeves.

Addressing his new squadron for the first time, Bourquin said, "Today I am honored to assume command of the 328th WPS and look forward to building on the great successes achieved by the squadron under the leadership of Lt. Col. Reeves.

"As our Air Force continues to develop and rely upon effects achieved through the space and cyber domains, this squadron will be called upon more and more to create tactically relevant experts that can exploit and ensure those capabilities. My wife Jodi and I are excited to be joining such an elite team."

Prior to taking command, Bourquin was the operations officer for the 460th Operations Support Squadron at Buckley AFB, Colo. As the commander of the 328th WPS, Reeves oversaw the creation of the Cyber Warfare Operations Weapon Instructor Course, while leading the Space Superiority Weapons Instructor Course.

"The 328th Weapons Squadron is in a unique position to shape how the U.S. Air Force employs non-kinetic effects throughout the space and cyber domains," Reeves said during his final address to the squadron. "The men and women of the 328th and the weapons officers they produce are among the very best the U.S. Air Force has to offer. They are problem solvers, leaders, and warriors. It has been a privilege to serve alongside them as they have transformed and inspired our nation's combat power."

The 328th WPS is dedicated to teaching the Space Superiority and Cyber Warfare Operations Weapons Instructor Courses and is one of 18 squadrons at the USAFWS. Since its inception, the 328th WPS has produced 282 U.S. Air Force weapons officers.
