  • DoD tests CBRN Aircrew Protective Suit Upgrade at Nellis

    Representatives from across the Department of Defense (DoD) in conjunction with the 88th Test and Evaluation Squadron participated in ongoing developmental testing of the new Uniform Integrated Protective Ensemble (UIPE) Air system at Nellis.
  • Nellis leaders, tribal reps visit Native American historical site

    Commanders from the 99th Air Base Wing, the 432nd Wing, and the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) met with six tribal representatives for an excursion to a Native American cultural site within the NTTR on March 21, 2021. Nellis AFB initiated its Native American Program 25 years ago to increase the understanding between base leadership and culturally affiliated tribes. Within Nevada and the surrounding states of California, Utah and Arizona, many tribes maintain strong cultural ties to the NTTR, a 2.9 million-acre area used for Department of Defense training and research.
  • 505th CCW supports largest U.S. Army Warfighter exercise on record

    The 505th Command and Control Wing supported the U.S. Army's Mission Command Training Program during its execution of Warfighter Exercise 21-1, the largest WFX ever conducted. The exercise directly trained over 5,300 joint warfighters and accomplished training objectives for 12 training audiences using more than two dozen different systems connecting seven sites across the country.

    Defense Department leaders are inviting DOD housing residents to participate in the department's annual housing satisfaction survey, which launches this month. 
  • NTTR: Training our way to victory

    Red Flag, an air-to-air combat exercise for pilots, and Green Flag, a ground combat training exercise, are two of the largest training operations in the Department of Defense. The NTTR enables training opportunities like these, while also providing a practice home to the U.S. Air Force Aerial Demonstration team and daily flying operations for squadrons based at Nellis.
  • Guardian Angels support NASA launch

    The 58th Rescue Squadron’s Guardian Angels assigned to Nellis Air Force Base made up the three-team Space Flight Support Force distributed amongst Patrick AFB, Fla., Joint Base Charleston, S.C., and JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, in support of the historic launch.

    To help combat COVID-19, the Air Force has released information that supplements Department of Defense guidance on the use of cloth face coverings, effective immediately.To the extent practical, without significantly impacting mission, all individuals on Department of the Air Force property, installations and facilities are required to wear cloth
