Members of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, or Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters, took off Feb. 1, 2021, for their fourth winter storm mission of the 2020-2021 season, while also supporting the atmospheric river missions in Nevada. The 53rd WRS provides weather data to departments of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for three types of weather missions: tropical cyclones, atmospheric rivers, and winter storm missions.
