Spc. Michael John McConville uses a Prusik friction hitch to haul himself up a rock face at the Northern Warfare Training Center’s Black Rapids Site during training. NWTC cadre followed Coronavirus restrictions while guiding students through both the basic and advanced mountaineering courses in August. With the advent of Alaska’s long, cold winter, NWTC’s focus is now shifting to cold weather training for the 2020-21 season.
