David Epperson taxis after landing from Field’s final Air Force sortie, or “fini” flight, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Sept. 11, 2014. Field served multiple assignments at Nellis throughout his 35-year career, including serving as the commandant of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School from 2000 to 2001, and was visiting the base to get a first-hand look at Nellis’ multiple missions.
