Nellis community members come together to enjoy family events at the Community Center where the 2013 Nellis National Night Out was held Aug 6, 2013, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Nellis’ National Night Out had demonstrations from the 99th SFS Airmen, 99th Force Support Squadron’s Fire Department and Las Vegas Metro Police Department which included military working dogs, fire trucks and dirt bike patrols. National Night Out, which began as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” in 1984, started an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
