GREEN FLAG 08-10

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A French Air Force Mirage F1 takes off for a Green Flag mission from Nellis AFB. Green Flag exercises provide realistic close air support training for Air Force, sister services, and international fighter, bomber, and airborne command and control units. The exercises, which focus on air support for high desert armored warfare, facilitate joint operational training at the US Army National Training Center, Fort Irwin, Calif. Green Flag also trains Air Force and coalition ground combat units in the tactical control of airpower in the close battle. (U.S. Air Force photo by Chief Master Sgt. Gary Emery)
