Saving dollars

Jeffrey Ayala (left), Nellis Innovative Development Through Employee Awareness (IDEA) Program manager, presents Chad Russ, Nellis pod shop manager, with an IDEA Program certificate April 14, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Mr. Russ’ idea of improving the maintenance procedures for the Nellis Air Combat Training System (NACTS) pods, was approved and will be implemented Air Force wide. This idea will save Nellis and the Air Force more than $230,000 to locally repair the nose cones of NACTS pods. NACTS pods are used during Red Flag and Green Flag exercise and are used to track aircraft activity and data , such as angle of attack information, air speed and provide a cockpit view.
