NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE Nev.-- Italian Air Force Crew Chief, Master Sgt. Alex Biancardi prepares to launch an AMX/ A-1 fighter for a training mission at Red Flag 09-5 Aug. 24. Red Flag is a realistic air combat training exercise conducted over the 15,000-square-mile Nevada Test and Training Range north of Las Vegas. The two-week exercise is administered through the 414th Combat Training Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base and is just one in a series of advanced training programs offered by the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center. In addition to the Italian Air Force, U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marines Corps units from Nevada, Massachusetts, Utah, Louisiana, California, Washington, Oklahoma, Florida and Kansas; and allied forces from the United Arab Emirates also participated in the exercise.
