Capt. Kelvin Haywood (right), engineering flight commander with the 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron (ERHS) whose unit is deployed from the 555th RHS at Nellis AFB, signs for a shipment of 17 trailers full of supplies on Friday, June 22, from U. S. Army Staff Sgt. Chad Kollar, logistical convoy commander with the 1207th Transportation Company attached to the 82nd Airborne Brigade. Sergeant Kollar was a very welcome site to the RED HORSE commander because of the difficulty in receiving supplies moving through Iraq. Sergeant Kollar is deployed from the Rhode Island Army National Guard and is based in Talil, Iraq. Captain Haywood is an Air Force Reservist deployed from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. He is in charge of the Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers RED HORSE Airmen who are forward deployed from Balad Air Base, Iraq and tasked with building four tactical operations centers for the Army's 2nd Brigade combat team, 3rd Infantry Division headquartered here. The 2/3 ID are currently running their operations out of tents. The Air Force RED HORSE unit was requested by the Army to come into this "Triangle of Death" location because of their self-suffiency and for the multiple skill sets they bring to a project. Besides the TOCs the RED HORSE Airmen are working on several other projects at the FOB. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jim Varhegyi)
