Nellis recovers following microburst

Support crews work at the scene of a collapsed structure at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Sept. 9, 2011. A canopy which provides protection from the elements collapsed when a microburst, a sudden, violent downdraft of air over a small area; hit the base at approximately 5 p.m. Sept. 8. Eight military members received minor injuries and were treated at the Mike O?Callahan Federal Hospital and all have been released. In addition to the injured military personnel, vehicles in the area as well as the walls and the concrete pad holding the structure were also damaged. Thirteen aircraft, including 11 F-16s and two A-10s, were in individual bays were under the structure at the time of the incident. The incident is under investigation and the full extent of the damage to the aircraft and other resources in the area is currently being assessed. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Brett Clashman)
