Tech. Sgt. Tim Bennett, 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron assistant section chief, donates blood at the 57th Wing blood drive March 25, 2013, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. One unit of blood can be separated into several components such as red blood cells, plasma, platelets, and cryoprecipitate. Donor blood is used to help women who have complications during childbirth, patients with cancer, children with Sickle Cell Disease, accident victims, patient undergoing certain kinds of surgeries, and it also supports patients at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Medical Center.
