99th LRS

A flash tester is used to test the flash point of JP-8, a kerosene-based fuel used by the United States Air Force, Feb. 28, 2013, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. JP-8 has a flash point of 38 degrees Celsius. Too low a flash point can cause fuel to be a fire hazard and make the fuel subject to flashing. If this happens, it could cause continued ignition of the fuel and an explosion. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Jason Couillard)
