A flash tester is used to test the flash point of JP-8, a kerosene-based fuel used by the United States Air Force, Feb. 28, 2013, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. JP-8 has a flash point of 38 degrees Celsius. Too low a flash point can cause fuel to be a fire hazard and make the fuel subject to flashing.
