U.S. Air Force Airmen lift a CPR mannequin in a C-17 Globemaster III from Thompson Field Air National Guard Base, Mississippi for Operation Foremost Endeavor at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The goal of the exercise was to give officials, observers, media personnel and players from participating organizations information they need to observe or participate in a National Disaster Medical System hospital evacuation, aeromedical evacuation and patient reception exercise. Royal Australian Air Force Flight Lieutenant Melanie Smyth, an aviation medical officer assigned to the 2nd Expeditionary Health Squadron, put her years of emergency first aid training to good use Feb. 3, when she responded to a child choking at a shopping center near the Las Vegas Strip. Smyth, one of hundreds of coalition military partners temporarily assigned to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, in support of Red Flag 19-1, was enjoying her day off in the city when she noticed a mother in panic as her six-year-old daughter lost the ability to breathe. Red Flag 19-1
