Immunization Clinic Offers Flu Vaccinations

Wilson Danks, 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief receives the 2012-2013 flu mist from Airman 1st Class Madison Belzer, 99th Medical Operations Squadron immunizations medical technician at a walk-in clinic offered Sept. 24, 2012 at the Mike O?Callaghan Federal Medical Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The Live, Attenuated Influenza Vaccine or LAIV, also known as the flu mist, is an alternative to the flu injection and contains live but attenuated or weakened versions of the influenza virus unlike the shot, which contains an inactivated or dead form of the virus.

Immunization Clinic Offers Flu Vaccinations
Patients line up to receive the 2012-2013 flu vaccination Sept. 24, 2012, in the main lobby of the Mike O?Callaghan Federal Medical Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The 99th Medical Operations Squadron Immunizations Clinic The clinic will hold a walk-in clinic in the hospital's main lobby for all active-duty service members Sept. 21 to 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone else requiring the vaccination can schedule a time at the immunization clinic. Shots will also be offered Oct. 8 - 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the base theater to active-duty service members. Pediatric doses will also be available for children at the theater.
