New Lightning AMU officially opens
A U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning II sits on display in the new Lightning Aircraft Maintenance Unit hangar March 18, 2014, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The new hangar will also have an engine maintenance addition built into the facility. Engine maintenance will now be conducted in the same facility the aircraft is stored in. Not moving an engine from one facility to another will make maintenance more efficient and ultimately reduce the amount of time the aircraft must remain on the ground. Change in dependent rate
The Air Force will be conducting a force-wide dependent rate Base Allowance for Housing recertification between March and December 2014. Individuals who are receiving or entitled to dependent rate pay will be contacted by the finance office and asked to fill out AF form 594 (Application and Authorization to start, stop or change Basic Allowance for Quarters or Dependency Redetermination) and provide any relevant certificates or decrees. Individuals will be contacted in numerical order based on the last two digits of their social security number and will have 30 days to turn in the required documentation to the finance office.
