Nellis Tax Center offers help with tax preparation
The Nellis Tax Center will open Jan. 30, 2014, at the Desert Oasis Lounge at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. Free tax advice and assistance will be provided to active-duty service members, retirees and families possessing a valid military identification card. The tax center will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. until Feb. 3 when the hours change from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursdays. This schedule will remain in effect until April 15, the final day to file income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service. No appointments are necessary, only walk-ins will be taken. Turkey Trot 5k
Major Aubrey Curtis, 547th Intelligence Squadron individual mobility augmentee, runs during the 5k Turkey Trot/Great American Smokeout near the Warrior Fitness Center, Nov. 21, 2013, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. This year the Turkey Trot, which was put on by the Warrior Fitness Center, and the Great American Smokeout, put on by the Health and Wellness Center, were combined into one 5k event. The race was called both the Turkey Trot and the Great American Smokeout in honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and to help urge Airmen and other individuals to end their tobacco use.
