Nellis Threat Training Facility
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.--The U.S. Air Force's premier Threat Training Facility is located at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and operated and maintained by the 547th Intelligence Squadron. The 547th IS is the U.S. Air Force's "Center of Excellence" for adversary tactics analysis. The unit compiles, writes and edits the Air Force's Threat Reference Guide and analyzes, refines and disseminates intelligence on adversary tactics and weapons employment for customers throughout the Department of Defense. Nellis to add another large solar plant
The solar photovoltaic power system at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., is the largest solar photovoltaic array in the United States. There are plans to expand the 14-megawatt solar power production at the base. The Air Force recently signed a lease with Nevada Energy to add a 19-megawatt solar array. Together the projects will provide 42 percent of the energy needed to power Nellis. (U.S. Air Force photo)

New commander discusses Nevada Test and Training Range challenges
U.S. Air Force Col. Kenneth Thompson, Nevada Test and Training Range commander, speaks with the media about the challenges he expects as the organization's new commander following a ceremony re-designating the 98th Range Wing as the NTTR at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., June 21, 2011. Like the 98 RANW, The NTTR will remain a direct reporting unit to the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center and continue to operate, maintain and manage the 2.9-million-acre range (42 percent of the land managed by the U.S. Air Force) and 12,000 square miles of military airspace. New Lightning AMU officially opens
A U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning II sits on display in the new Lightning Aircraft Maintenance Unit hangar March 18, 2014, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The new hangar will also have an engine maintenance addition built into the facility. Engine maintenance will now be conducted in the same facility the aircraft is stored in. Not moving an engine from one facility to another will make maintenance more efficient and ultimately reduce the amount of time the aircraft must remain on the ground.
