USAF Warfare Center welcomes new commander

Maj. Gen. Case Cunningham will assume command of the United States Air Force Warfare Center from Maj. Gen. Charles Corcoran during a change of command ceremony at 9 a.m. June 18, 2021, in the Nellis AFB Thunderbird Hangar.

Gen. Mark D. Kelly, commander of Air Combat Command, will preside over the ceremony. 

Cunningham is a command pilot with over 3,200 flying hours, including more than 600 combat hours in three different aircraft types in multiple areas of operation. He has served as commander of two wings and as commander/leader of the U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron, the “Thunderbirds.” Prior to his current position, he was the Director of Plans, Programs, and Requirements, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

The USAFWC oversees four wings and two named units with more than 13,000 military and civilian personnel serving in the 57th Wing, 53rd Wing, 99th Air Base Wing, 505th Command and Control Wing, the Nevada Test and Training Range and the Air Force Joint Test Program Office. Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve service members and civilians located at 34 different locations across 22 states execute the USAFWC mission.

The mission of the USAFWC is to develop innovative leaders and full spectrum capabilities through responsive, realistic and relevant Air Force and joint testing, tactics development and advanced training across all levels of war.
