TWO A-10s CRASH ON NEVADA TEST AND TRAINING RANGE
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – Two United States Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft assigned to the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, crashed at approximately 8 p.m. Sept. 6 on the Nevada Test and Training Range.
Both pilots are assigned to the 66th Weapons Squadron at Nellis AFB.
Both pilots ejected safely. They were transported to the Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center at Nellis AFB for medical evaluation. Both pilots were released without significant injuries at approximately 12:45 a.m. Sept. 7 from the medical center.
The pilots were on a routine training mission, carrying chaff/flares and inert munitions, at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash is unknown, and an interim safety investigation board has convened to investigate the incident.
