Military clothing sales is undergoing an eight-week renovation project.

The temporary location of clothing sales is inside the Exchange near outdoor living right next to the Power Zone, but items and services will not change and Exchange employees will continue to provide the same service as before.

"[We are] going to be basically [renovating] the whole inside area," said Lawrence Simmons, Nellis AFB Exchange general manager.

The store will be receiving new lighting fixtures, counters for the registers and signs for locating items. The carpet will also be removed, and the store will have a polished concrete floor with wood trimming.

"Carpets are no longer standard for the military clothing sales," Simmons said. "The signs will be updated so customers know where to locate what they need. We will still have the same personalized service to provide assistance for our customers to help find the military apparel they need."

This renovation is expected to provide a better atmosphere for the customers.
"The brightness, cleanliness, and the excitement for our customers [will be better] so [we] can show we are here to serve them," said Virginia Jenkins, Nellis AFB Exchange Military Clothing Sales manager.

The estimated cost of the renovation project is $160,000; the U.S. Air Force and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service will share the cost of this project. The store operates under terms of a Memorandum of Understanding which establishes the use of appropriated funds and responsibilities of each branch of service, installation commanders, and Exchange management. These appropriated funds provide for issue of Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support inventory, facility maintenance, transportation costs, and pro rata share of facility operations to include upgrades, renovations, utilities, and personnel cost.

The Exchange staff has expressed their enthusiasm for the upgrade.

"I'm very excited personally that we are going to an upscale look here, and I can't wait to see it," Simmons said. "It's going to be gorgeous once we get everything set up."

The renovation is estimated to be completed by late February 2014.
