The 99th Communications Squadron moved to Building 907 Feb. 18.

The network control center's work locations, to include the communications focal point, executive communications, communications security program, wing information assurance, and personal wireless communication systems, have moved into the new facility.

The move was brought due to the aging of the previous workplace.

"The existing network control center is very old and was not able to be renovated or repaired due to some of the original construction materials being hazardous," said Christina Whatley, 99th CS deputy director.

The old building also had maxed out electrical circuits, a roof and pipes that would occasionally leak and was unable to be updated to keep up with changes in technology.

"Because the mission is so critical, the project was approved to build a new network control center to support Nellis and Creech AFBs. The existing facility will be demolished after everything has been relocated," Whatley said.

The new facility improves Nellis by providing a faster network and a bigger space for Airmen to work.

"The new location provides a fresh new CFP for our customers, as well as a new work space for our network operations and maintenance," said 2nd Lt. Brian Geick, 99th CS element chief of infrastructure.

The move to this new facility should help the 99th CS provide better service to its customers.

"Our new CFP will provide improved customer service while the network server facilities will have greatly improved environmental systems and redundant power capabilities to increase reliability and reduce outages," Whatley said. "Another improvement at the new building is the larger parking lot for customers."

Although there is limited capabilities from Feb. 17 to Feb. 21, once the move is complete, services will resume to normal operations.
