Construction of a $1.4 million medical clinic at Creech AFB is scheduled to begin in August and is projected to be completed in July of 2007.

Once completed, the 3,162 square-foot facility will provide primary care and limited dental, ancillary, and bioenvironmental support.

“The new Flight Medicine Clinic will be a welcome and sorely needed addition to Creech,” said Lt. Col. Leslie Ness, commander of the 99th Medical Support Squadron. “The present clinic is unable to accommodate the needs of the growth in active-duty personnel.”

Housed in a trailer, the current medical facility is more than 50 years old, undersized, and operating with severely limited medical capabilities. To remedy these problems and adjust for future medical staffi ng, construction of a modern outpatient medical facility is crucial, Colonel Ness said.

At present, many routine medical services for Creech’s Airmen are being provided at Nellis, forcing beneficiaries to travel more than 45 miles for treatment. Because of the distance involved, hundreds of duty days are lost each year.

“Currently, active-duty members have to travel to Nellis for outpatient care, dental care, and PHA appointments,” said Colonel Ness. “Once the clinic is operational, all of that will be done on-site allowing for a quicker return to duty.” After the facility is completed, the 99th Medical Group will continue to provide specialty care for Creech.
