Kenitra Price Tax Center Paralegal NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Active duty, reservists, retirees and military family members possessing a valid U.S. Uniformed Services Identification Card can receive free tax advice, tax preparation and tax assistance, to include electronic filing, beginning Jan. 24 in Room 320 in the Nellis Community Center, Building 625. The Tax Center hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Tax Center will accept walk-ins from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for people who are filing 1040EZ forms and 1040A forms only. All other tax returns will be completed by appointment only. In order to receive tax assistance, each individual must bring the following items to the Tax Center: -I.D. card -Social Security cards for the individual, his or her spouse, and his or her dependents -Birth dates for the individual, his or her spouse, and his or her dependents on the tax return -2011 tax package (if the individual has received one) -Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R from all employers -Statements reflecting gambling losses (if applicable) -Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099) -Final HUD1 (if individual has purchased a new home) -Copy of last year's Federal and State returns (if available) -Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit -Other relevant information about income and expenses (for example: total amount paid for day care and day care identifying numbers) To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms or have an IRS Power of Attorney, Declaration of Representation, Form 2848. The Tax Center will start scheduling appointments at 8 a.m. Jan. 18. To make an appointment for tax assistance, call the tax center appointment line at 652-2645.
