Students from the Advanced Maintenance Superintendent Course graduated during a ceremony Aug. 19, 2011, at the Club on Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

The 15 graduates of class 11/B were part of the third class to complete the six-week-long course offered at the U.S. Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Officer School.

"Students are selected from across the United States Air Force because they have the greatest potential as graduates to expand combat capability," said Lt. Col. William Maxwell, USAF AMMOS commandant. "AMMOS is an advanced combat support school that is extremely difficult and fast-paced. The Advanced Maintenance Superintendent Course teaches advanced combat skills to make these senior NCOs stronger warriors who make America safer."

The superintendent course provides graduate-level education in expeditionary logistics and agile combat support to senior NCOs in the maintenance community. Graduates understand principles of contingency and crisis action planning and can integrate expeditionary combat support to enable effective combat sortie generation. They can manage aircraft fleet health challenges to ensure combat-ready weapons systems in support of an air campaign. Graduates are able to share their knowledge effectively with their peers. They also act as an advisor to maintenance leadership on expeditionary logistics execution here and while deployed.

"This is the first class I have seen graduate since my time here starting in June," said Capt. Seanna Less, USAF AMMOS director of operations. "This class has highly impressed me with the tenaciousness, dedication and energy they brought to the institution. I am excited to learn about the impact they will have while teaching maintenance and munitions tactics, techniques and procedures at their home base and how this knowledge will spread throughout the community."

To mark the occasion, AMMOS invited Chief Master Sgt. Brooke McLean, Pacific Air Force command chief, to be the guest speaker.

"We're exceptionally proud of the Advanced Maintenance Superintendent Course graduates," said McLean. "The Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Officer School has challenged them with a phenomenal curriculum, and they have succeeded. They are now better prepared to lead our Air Force through the challenging times ahead."
