Nellis lodging rooms undergo renovation projects Published Sept. 6, 2011 Nellis Inn Lodging office NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The Nellis Inn Lodging office is in the process of renovating and upgrading a total of 548 rooms. To date, three buildings have had complete furnishing upgrades and another has had a complete décor upgrade. The purpose of these renovations is to ensure that the Nellis Inn is meeting the Air Force standards as well as the needs of our military community, while continuing to provide guests with friendly, clean, safe and well-maintained lodging facilities. The Falcon Inn, Building 540, which houses the Fighter Weapons School students, received upgrades for 39 rooms, kitchenettes and bathrooms. The specific improvements included in the $1.3 million project included painting the walls; replacing the carpet and tile floors; remodeling the kitchen; replacing cabinets and countertops; adding new furniture, linens and window treatments; mounting microwaves under cabinets; removing any asbestos and installing new flooring. The Warrior Inn, Building 465, which is where guests visiting Nellis Air Force Base reside, re-opened December 2010 after undergoing a $1.2 million project. The renovations for this building included a complete furnishings upgrade to all guest rooms, hallways, laundry facilities and administrative office areas. The Eagle Inn, Building 523, which also houses Nellis guests, re-opened March 2011. This building upgraded 39 rooms and the housekeeping break-room area as part of a $6,100 project. Its laundry room was also upgraded by the lodging staff as a self-help project. The Nellis Inn, Building 556, which is another visiting quarters building, recently completed is $3.2 million décor upgrade for 349 rooms. This involved bringing new paint, flooring, mattresses, window treatments and coverlets into the rooms while leaving the existing bed frames, desks, armoires, lamps and light fixtures in-tact. Additionally, all 1,091 of the Nellis lodging rooms are in the process of receiving a technological upgrade. So far, the rooms now have improved cable television quality and channel selections, to include numerous sports, education and entertainment channels. During the next 12 to 15 months, the telephone switches will be replaced and older facilities will be rewired to provide better phone and high speed internet service.
