The Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital is undergoing a few changes which positively benefit its current and future patients.

"Nellis was recently selected to be a 'medical center,' which brings a tremendous amount of new resources our way," said Col. John DeGoes, 99th Medical Group commander. "We can now offer comprehensive internal medicine and specialty care to our patients, including the ability to do cardiac catheterization procedures."

In addition to this new identification, the Nellis Hospital is now open to all Department of Defense beneficiaries age 65 or older.

"It is my pleasure to welcome all DOD-eligible beneficiaries to receive care at our medical center," DeGoes continued. "We are particularly pleased to be able to open our doors to the Medicare population, which historically was asked to get their care from local civilian providers."

Any eligible beneficiaries who are current or future patients at the Nellis Hospital and are under age 65 can enroll in TRICARE Prime online at www.triwest.com or in person at the medical center's TRICARE Service Center. Medicare-eligible patients more than 65 years of age can enroll in TRICARE Plus at the medical center's TRICARE Service Center. TRICARE Plus is free, and does not affect Medicare benefits.
