Robert Ellis, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center command chief master sergeant, arrived Nov. 16, 2011, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., after departing from Buckley Air Force Base, Colo. As the Warfare Center's new command chief master sergeant, Ellis serves as the primary advisor to the commander on matters concerning the mission effectiveness, readiness, training, health, welfare and morale of more than 11,000 Airmen and civilians who are organized into four wings and one named activity serving at 31 locations in 20 states. "This is my third command chief position," Ellis said. "I want to meet the people and find out what their needs and challenges are and do what I can to support them and the mission." Ellis has been in the Air Force for 27 years and has had 17 different assignments since he has enlisted. "It's a humbling experience," Ellis said. "The Air Force has equipped me to be able to function effectively regardless of the challenges we face. The great thing is, I don't need to have all of the answers; I know we have leaders and sharp Airmen that have great ideas and solutions." When it comes to his job in the Air Force and his views and expectations of the Airmen, Ellis does not take anything lightly. He is devoted to making sure every Airman does his or her best and makes the best of his or her Air Force career. "Develop yourselves completely as Airmen; continue to grow and educate yourselves in and beyond your career fields," Ellis said. "The days of one-dimensional Airmen are over. We have to be the brightest, sharpest and most educated to accomplish the mission at hand."
