SpOC announces Individual Functional Awards winners for 2020 Published May 19, 2021 By 1st Lieutenant Rachel Brinegar, Space Operations Command Public Affairs Space Operations Command PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Space Operations Command, U.S. Space Force’s first field command, announced the SpOC Individual Functional Awards winners for 2020. “Space Operations Command is the warfighting element of the U.S. Space Force and the service component to U.S. Space Command,” said Chief Master Sgt. John Bentivegna, SpOC senior enlisted leader. “We wanted awards specific to the spacepower disciplines to highlight our space warfighters and the hard work they do every day in critical positions.” The functional award categories fall in line with the spacepower disciplines within the U.S. Space Force’s Space Capstone Publication, Spacepower: Doctrine for Space Forces. “We have gone through a lot of changes within the Space Force and SpOC this past year,” said Lt. Gen.
