In an effort to bolster support for vaccination efforts, Iowa Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg received a COVID-19 vaccination at the Siouxland Expo Center in Sioux City on Friday. Gregg was in the Western Iowa enclave surrounded by community leaders, including members of the Iowa National Guard to witness the event.

Prior to his arrival in Sioux City, Gregg invited area residents to preregister and join him in receiving a vaccination.

“It’s a great way to protect yourself, it’s a great way to protect your family that you love, and it’s a great way to protect your community as well,” said Gregg.

Adding additional star power to the event Gregg was joined by former Iowa Hawkeye and former NFL Tight End Dallas Clark.  Clark joined the Lieutenant Governor at the event to especially encourage men to get vaccinated.

“They don’t mess around over here. It was a great group and hopefully the message gets spread as far as possible and everyone comes out and gets vaccinated,” Clark said.

Members of the Iowa National Guard began receiving first rounds of COVID-19 vaccinations earlier this year after the vaccine became available. Following the initial rollout, the clinic at the Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City began to expand their efforts to include all military members.

Now that the vaccine is widely available, state and community leaders are inviting residents of the state to participate in events like vaccination clinic at the expo center.
