The finance office will began conducting Base Allowance for Housing recertification for all individuals receiving with-dependent rate BAH March 1 and is scheduled to be completed by December.

According to a memorandum sent out by the Department of the Air Force, there will be an AF-wide BAH-recertification of every member of the Air Force including active duty, Guard and Reserve, who are receiving or are entitled to dependent rate BAH.

"BAH is considered a high value item, obviously with the [budget tightening] going on right now, we're trying to make sure that all of our funds are accounted for," said 2nd Lt. Christopher Rose, 99th Comptroller Squadron financial services officer.

Individuals who are receiving dependent rate or who are entitled to dependent rate will need to provide the following documentation:

· Air Force form 594 Application and Authorization to Start, Stop or Change   Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ) or Dependency Redetermination

· Any supporting documentation that is the basis for your dependent rate BAH such as a marriage certificate, birth certificate, divorce decree, etc.

Any certificates or documentation being brought along with the AF form 594 must either be the original document or a certified copy. AF form 594 may not be digitally signed. There must be a written signature.

Every Air Force member who is stationed at Nellis AFB, whether they are active duty, Guard or Reserve will be notified via email by the financial office based off of the last two digits of their social security number. The lower the digits, the earlier the individual will be contacted. Digits 00 to 09 will be contacted in March, 10 to 20 in April, etc.

Individuals will have 30 days after notification to get their documents to the finance office. If there is no response the individual's BAH rate will change from the dependent rate to the single rate.

"As long as you provide the appropriate paperwork, nothing's going to change," Rose said.

The recertification process has already begun. It started March 1, and it will continue to the end of the year, Dec 31.

Individuals must hand carry their documentation to the finance office which is located in Bldg. 11. People do not need to wait to be contacted by the finance office. They may turn in documentation any time before being contacted.
