The Nellis re-sale lot, or "lemon lot," here is a place where Department of Defense ID cardholders can sell their privately-owned vehicles.

Anything from automobiles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, recreational vehicles and boats can be advertised for sale.

"We have 75 through 145 slots [for vehicles]," said Timothy Jackson, 99th Force Support Squadron Arts and Crafts director. "Some of them are double slots for RVs and boats."

Anything that can be driven can be put on the lot, said Jackson.

All members of the military community, to include active duty, retirees, civilian employees, dependents, reservists and guard members have access to the re-sale lot.

Anyone interested in selling their vehicle must go to the Arts and Crafts Center to fill out a privately owned vehicle registration sheet and a permit form, based on the vehicle's information, said Jackson.

A flat rate fee of $15 is due up front, which is the lowest price one could pay. People can pay to have their car there longer for about a $1 a day.

A vehicle must be on the lot a minimum of 15 days. It can stay on the lot as long as it takes to sell, but the owner must keep the permit current.

"A lot of people utilize [the re-sale lot] because they're getting ready to get a permanent change of station or are deploying and need to sell their vehicle," said Brian Savage, the manager of the re-sale lot.

The lot benefits Nellis residents because the location of the vehicles--on the corner of Devlin Drive and Beale Avenue-- is convenient for those working and living on base.

For more information, contact the Arts and Crafts Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 702-652-2849.
