The Combined Federal Campaign kicked off here Sept. 2 and will run through Dec. 15.

The CFC is an opportunity for all federal employees to donate money to a number of non-profit organizations that assist individuals in need.

"The CFC wraps up a bunch of different organizations into one," said Capt. Andrew York, 99th Security Forces Squadron operations officer and base CFC representative. "It gives people a product to look at and see the many organizations, as well as the percentage of overhead [amount of the donation that goes into running the organization] that is accompanied with them. There's a bunch of organizations in there that might have a lower overhead and are more targeted to something specific that touches you in your personal life."

In 2013, between Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases, and the Nevada Test and Training Range, CFC raised approximately $350,000.

The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

"We are not focused on the monetary amount, although important, we are placing greater emphasis on the contact with the individual," said Capt. Gabriela Daniels, 99th Medical Operations Squadron physical therapist and base CFC representative. "We're reaching out to the people and making sure we get the one-on-one contact that starts with the installation point of contact down to the flight level."

Airmen, contractors and civilian employees are all encouraged to donate to the charity of their choice during the CFC. For more information about the CFC or how to donate, contact a unit CFC representative or visit nevadacfc.org.
