The three Nellis AFB Airmen, who were assisted by three members of the 799th Air Base Squadron from Creech AFB, took quick, live-saving reactions to rescue an elderly couple trapped in their car during the flash flood on U.S. Route 95 north of Las Vegas. The Airmen were able to save the couple before the car was swept away by the water. For their actions, Dixon, Maxwell and Fitzgerald received commendation medals from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
