Urban close air support training flown from Nellis Air Force Base will take place over Pahrump in southern Nevada Nov. 27 -29, 2007.

Urban close air support integrates aircraft in support of ground operations by attacking targets in close proximity to friendly troops. The training missions will be executed twice a day, with a planned window from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m over a one-week period. At any given time, there will be a maximum of four F-15E Strike Eagles overhead.

Ground teams will consist of approximately six personnel in three military vehicles with radio communication equipment in the town area. The personnel will drive from point to point within the city and will be tracked by the orbiting aircraft. Ground personnel will not carry weapons and will be in military uniforms.

Flight operations will be at a minimum 7,000 feet above ground level. Aircraft and ground crews will not employ lasers. Aircraft will not carry ordnance while participating in operations over urban areas. Ground personnel will establish standard operating areas within town limits.
