Airmen may qualify for credit card refunds Published Jan. 29, 2008 By 1st Lt. Jason Gunnell Nellis AFB Legal Office NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Nellis and Creech Airmen who used their Visa, MasterCard, or a number of other smaller credit cards anywhere outside the United States between Feb. 1996 and Nov. 2006 may be entitled to a reimbursement from the credit card companies for an undisclosed currency exchange fee charged to cardholder's during this time. Purchases made on the Government Travel Card do not qualify for the refund. In Feb. 2007, the companies decided to end a class-action lawsuit by settling to refund the aggrieved cardholders a total of $336 million to be divided among all qualifying cardholders. Individuals wanting to opt-out or dispute the settlement should need to file a petition with the court by 14 February. To claim a refund, either complete the claim form packet that was mailed to the majority of affected cardholders, or visit www.ccfsettlement.com. The deadline for filing a claim is May 30th.
