The 99th Services Squadron captured the 2008 Air Combat Command General Curtis E. LeMay Services Award here Jan. 25 for the third time in four years.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have been selected by ACC as the best services squadron in the command," said Maj. Beth Demmons, 99th SVS commander. "I'm extremely proud of our entire services team."

The award was named in honor of General Curtis E. LeMay, who supported morale, wellness and recreation programs provided to Air Force members and their families.

The services squadron has been recognized for several of these programs to include last year's Air Force Commander in Chief Installation Excellence Award, the Sports and Fitness Center earning an Air Force 5-Star recognition, and the Child Development Centers and Youth Programs both recently set new Air Force record scores during Inspection and Accreditation evaluations.

"Despite our austere funding environment in recent years, we continually focus and invest in our customers' desires and needs," Major Demmons said.

Adding to their list of amenities there are plans to construct a club house at the Sunrise Vista Golf Course, as well as a new state-of-the-art fitness center and child development center.

With 44 programs and more than 850 personnel, the 99th SVS is the largest in ACC, and will soon compete with nominees from other major commands for the Air Force-level LeMay Award.

"Our military and civilian customer service warriors strive daily to make Nellis the premier services squadron in the Air Force," Major Demmons said. "We're very proud of the 2008 ACC LeMay Award. Services could not have done it without senior leadership support and direct involvement from agencies like 99th Civil Engineer, Communications and Logistics Readiness squadrons and the 99th Air Base Wing Public Affairs office. It was a true 'Team Nellis' effort. We look forward to showcasing our dynamic services program during the AF-level competition," she said.
