The 99th Air Base Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Robert Brooks awarded his monthly STAR Award to the Labor and Delivery Unit during an informal ceremony at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital here Feb. 7.

The accomplishments of the Labor and Delivery Unit include delivering 695 infants with zero adverse outcomes throughout 2007, deploying two medical technicians and one nurse in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, and maintaining proficient training status with a limited staff of 12 enlisted technicians, 18 commissioned nurses and two civilian nurses.

The accomplishments of this staff truly show a devotion to training in a high operations work center, said Col. David Mietzner, 99th Surgical Operations Squadron commander.
