Southern Nevada Health District Hepatitis C Investigation Published Feb. 28, 2008 By 99th Medical Group NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital is aware of the on-going investigation of the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada. We are currently reviewing our referral database to determine patients who were potentially exposed to Hepatitis C. According to the Southern Nevada Health District, only those patients who underwent an upper or lower GI endoscopy procedure with an injected anesthesia at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada between March 2004 and January 11, 2008 are considered to be at risk. The Southern Nevada Health District advises any patient who underwent such an exam during this specific timeline to consider testing for Hepatitis C. In addition, testing for Hepatitis B and HIV is being offered although no associated cases of hepatitis B or HIV have been identified . These tests require a blood draw, and can be requested by contacting Public Health at the hospital at Nellis Air Force Base. Testing will be provided for our patients who were potentially exposed, based on referrals to the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada. For additional information and Hepatitis C testing services, please contact the 99th Medial Group, Public Health Office at 653-3351 between the hours of 0730 and 1500 hrs, Monday through Friday.
