The 99th Air Base Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Robert Brooks awarded his monthly STAR Award to the "Touch and Go" Flight Kitchen during an informal ceremony at the Flight Kitchen here March 6.

The Flight Kitchen was selected for outstanding customer service and "can do" attitude they displayed Feb. 5, when they were faced with an surprise order of 60 box lunches for an Executive Leadership Development Program tour. Instead of "No, sorry, we have to have 24-hours notice," their first response was "Let us see what we can do." The kitchen staff dropped everything and prepared the required lunches in an hour.

The individuals went far above and beyond to make Nellis look good, said Lt. Col. Valerie Trefts, 99th Air Base Wing director of Public Affairs.

"And this great 'can do' attitude wasn't directed at a lieutenant colonel, it was directed at a PA senior airman and a captain," said Colonel Trefts. "They truly defined what I try to teach my Airmen -- treat everyone like a general."
