Nellis Air Force Base will be enforcing a new Air Combat Command supplement for motorcycle riders beginning March 31.

Air Combat Command Supplement to Air Force Instruction 91-207 requires that after completion of a required motorcycle safety course, all Department of Defense civilian workers and military employees will display an AF Form 15 on their motorcycle.

The decal, which measures approximately a square inch, will be placed on the front left of the bike, so the base entry personnel can check and make sure the operator has received the required training.

"Department of Defense civilians and active duty servicemembers will not be allowed through the gate without a bike decal, because the the sticker symbolizes that the rider has all the prerequisites necessary to ride on base," said Staff Sgt. Cody Sturgeon, 99th Air Base Wing ground safety manager. Retirees will still have to meet the equipment requirements, but they will be permitted access to the base, he continued.

After completing the motorcycle safety course, motorcycle riders will need to speak with their unit safety representatives and provide four pieces of information: a signature from the individual's respective commander signifying a commander's one-on-one safety briefing, the date of completion from the safety course, motorcycle engine size, and make and model of the bike.

If a unit does not have a USR, this process will be completed through the 99th ABW Safety Office.

Base riding policy, with the exception of the decal, will remain unchanged. Riders will still need to keep the Basic Riders Course completion card, wear brightly colored long-sleeve garments with reflective material, boots that cover the heel, and a Department of Transportation approved helmet.

For questions concerning the new policy speak with your unit safety rep or call the 99th ABW Safety Office at 652-6018.
