More than 120 Inactive Ready Reserve Airmen attended an IRR Muster here April 12, verifying they would be ready if called to active duty.

The muster, held approximately once a year, gave IRR Airmen the opportunity to update their records, receive valuable information, and get answers to IRR-related questions.

Col. Kenneth Keskel, 99th Air Base Wing vice commander, welcomed everyone to the event, thanked the IRR Airmen for their service and stressed their special significance now, during the Global War on Terrorism.

There is the possibility the Air Force could need the IRR, he said. It is important to have up-to-date information on IRR Airmen so that, if needed, they could be called up, said Colonel Keskel.

The four-hour muster brought local IRR Airmen together to confirm personal data and ensure their qualification for worldwide mobility, said 1st Lt. Will Busch, Military Personnel Flight Chief of Customer Service.

In addition, the muster reminded reservists of the many benefits they are still entitled to, like base exchange and commissary access, and gave IRR Airmen information on Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard opportunities, he said.

"The muster turned out really well," said Lieutenant Busch. "We got a much larger turnout than was expected and people seemed to gain a lot of knowledge they didn't have prior to the event."
