United States Air Force Weapons School conducts training Published April 28, 2008 By 2nd Lt. Jennifer Richard Nellis AFB Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The United States Air Force Weapons School here will be conducting training in and near Pahrump during Jaded Thunder West. The upcoming training will give U.S. and allied aircrews the opportunity to simulate tracking enemy targets in an urban environment. Aircraft will stay at an altitude of at least 7,000 feet and will not carry live ordnance. Ground forces will use radios, cell phones and satellite phones. They will not wear military uniforms, use military vehicles or have weapons. The ground forces will be brought to the Pahrump area by helicopters, but the helicopters will not be flying over the town or in the training exercise. The training will take place at the following times: May 14-15: 4- 7 p.m. and 9-11:59 p.m., May 16: 4- 7 p.m. and May 19-20: 4- 7 p.m. and 9-11:59 p.m. The U.S. Air Force Weapons School training is essential to ensure our pilots are ready to support American and allied ground forces in close contact with the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
