Nellis hosts 19th annual air defense conference Published May 19, 2008 By Senior Airman Jonathan Martinez 547th Intelligence Squadron NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The 547th Intelligence Squadron is hosting the 19th annual Integrated Air Defense Systems conference, June 3 - 6 at the 547th IS Threat Training Facility. According to Lt. Col. Scott J. Scheppers, 547th IS commander, "This is a great opportunity to bring together various intelligence agencies and their air defense experts to work towards a common goal, bringing air crews home safely and maintaining combat superiority." The IADS conference complements the nationally recognized Nellis Air Tactics Conference held every January. "The Nellis IADS conference comes once a year and gives national agencies an opportunity to exchange information with service-level agencies," said Larry Shoger, a 547th IS intelligence analyst. "This conference greatly assists in spreading information from different government agencies to our sister military branches, which allows invaluable information to be disseminated throughout the combat air forces." The IADS conference will bring together approximately 150 personnel from over 80 operational, intelligence and acquisition organizations. In the conference, participants will review and discuss the latest available intelligence on adversary ground-based air defense and its impact on our weapons systems and tactics. The Threat Training Facility main entrance will be closed to the public for the duration of the conference. Contact the 547th IS TTF at (702) 652-7858 for tour availability.
