Medics merit praise after ‘STAR’ performance Published May 28, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Travis Edwards Nellis AFB Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Airmen from the 99th Medical Group, medical readiness team received the 99th Air Base Wing command chief master sergeant's STAR Award during an informal ceremony here May 14. Command Chief Master Sgt. Robert Brooks presented his award to the team for their hard work and dedication to duty throughout April resulting in the deployment of more than 60 medical personnel as well as preparing 52 more who are scheduled to leave this September. The medical readiness Airmen did this while three individuals from the office were out on temporary duty assignments leaving the rest of the team to pick up the brunt of the work. "It took a lot of dedication and long hours from my team to get the job done," said Maj. Sarah Cuciti, 99th MDG, medical readiness flight commander. "Their commitment to service before self and excellent teamwork allowed the flexibility needed to take care of our customers. I am very pound to have all of them on my team." More than 100 weapons runs were completed and the Airmen coordinated and tracked all required training for the deploying personnel. Chief Brooks' STAR Award is a monthly award given to exceptional behind-the-scene performers for distinguished mission or community efforts.
